Tech Dome ~ Penang's 1st Science Discovery Centre @ Geodesic Dome, KOMTAR
We live our lives everyday, seeing and doing different things but somewhere along the line, we stop inquiring about the world around us. We have stopped asking 'why?' to our natural world and the technology we use and take for granted. Tech Dome Penang lets us uncover our curiosity, and to discover and be amazed by the science that governs our natural world.
Tech Dome Penang officially opened its door to public on July 16th, welcoming visitors to explore, discover and experience in the Geodesic Dome of Komtar right in the heart of George Town. We were very honoured to be invited to visit Penang's first Science Discovery Centre.
Tech Dome Penang houses over 120 interactive scientific and technology exhibits spread across 40,000 sq-ft of floor space. Its galleries on Information Technology, Life Tech, Robotics, Optics, Electro-Magnetism, Forces and Motion, Children's Exploration Zone, Penang Transformation Story and an Astronomy Observatory are put together to provide an immersive and experiential presentation on the marvels of science and technology. The space is huge and I would recommend spending at least 3 hours to explore the amazing inventions. They also have personnels around to help and explain what the experiments are about.
We spent nearly half a day there and we enjoyed ourselves so much! Not only we had fun, we also learned a lot about science in the process! All the exhibits are interesting and some are even exciting! With an entrance fee of just MYR 20.00 per person, I would say this is a superb steal! It has too many exhibits and activities that I can't name them all. So, shall we let the photos do the talking?
Please enjoy my video (ps. scream) below, LOL!
Tech Dome Penang is a perfect hang out spot for families or friends get-together as it is suitable for all ages. Future generations would also be inspired by the various science experiments. Not only that, Tech Dome has versatile spaces that can cater to all sorts of functions and celebrations - from birthdays with science shows, to science camps for students, corporate team building exercises, new product launching and more.
